We spent last Sunday at Lewes Beach in Delaware! It was our first time at the beach this year, and Mirei’s first time ever. Mio has been talking about the beach a lot lately so we’re so glad we could take her — she had so much fun! She’s been saying, “Go back to beach!” ever since. Here are some photos of all the fun in the sun!
Dan and Mio soaking up the sun.
Going into the water… it was still a little cold, but that didn’t stop them!
Sweet Mirei in the shade of our beach umbrella.
Playing in the sand.
Building things in the sand…
Mirei staying nice and dry.

Mirei giggles a lot lately! Can’t get enough!

We wrapped up our time in Lewes by stopping by to eat crabs for dinner at The Surfing Crab.

Mio was passed out from all the fun at the beach! She slept almost the whole ride home, too.
Delicious blue crabs!
The girls enjoyed the beach so much that we’ll definitely have to go to more this summer!
We took the girls strawberry picking for their first time on Saturday, at Hollin Farms in Delaplane. I think the last time Dan and I went strawberry picking was eight years ago in 2006 with his family, so it was our first time in a while, too!
My sister later pointed out that Mirei looks like a Ghibli film creature in this photo… I kind of see what she means! lol.
Mio and I looking for ripe strawberries to pick!
Dan picking away with Mirei strapped to him.
Wait, is Mirei trying to eat the box…?
“I’ve been discovered!” Caught redhanded!

Dan, strawberry picker extraordinaire!

In a good mood…
Sweetheart. ♥
With our strawberries!
Mio couldn’t wait to eat them!
It was a beautiful day, and we all had a fun time picking the strawberries. We’ve been eating them non-stop the past couple days and still have a lot left!
We spent Memorial Day at home, BBQ-ing and relaxing with the family. Of course, we can’t celebrate this day without remembering the ultimate sacrifice that those in the military have made for the rest of us. Thanks to those who make those sacrifices to defend and protect, we can live in peace and we honor them on this day. We are forever grateful for their service.

You can see the umbrella’s colors reflected in Mirei’s eyes.
Mirei turned four months old today! I almost forgot to post her monthly photos/update because of Memorial Day weekend, but I am getting these posted before the day is over!
(I’ll be taking photos of Mirei sitting in my white desk chair and wearing her monthly onesie every month until she’s one year old.)
Stats: You weigh approximately sixteen pounds now! Since a couple weeks ago, you’ve moved up to 9-month size clothing, because the 6-month sizes were getting too tight on you! We always joke about what a chubster you are, but we’re so thankful that you are such a healthy baby.
Things You’re Doing Now: About three weeks ago, you rolled over for the first time and have been getting better and better at it ever since! We’ll put you facing up on the playmat and within seconds, you’ll have already rolled over to your tummy. You try to twist your body to the side as if you’re trying to roll even while in the swing and bouncer, which has resulted in you ending up in uncomfortable positions while strapped into them. You also often attempt to lunge forward while in the swing or bouncer and sometimes almost fall out of them, so we really have to keep an eye on you at all times! You’re mastering tummy time and can hold your head and shoulders up pretty high, and you’re already scooting sideways sometimes by wiggling your arms and legs — a precursor to crawling! You smile so much more now, and we have recently started to hear more of your giggles — in fact, you were giggling during these monthly photos we took today, when we were doing peekaboo with you to get you to smile. You seem to be a bit camera-shy, and oftentimes when we point the camera or a phone in your direction to capture a moment, you’ll stop doing whatever it was we were trying to capture — you’re a tricky one! 😉 You really stare at our food when we’re eating so we can tell you’re already very interested! You often like to vigorously suck on your fingers, fists, and clothing, so we wonder if you may be teething soon. The past four months have just flown by, and we look forward to watching you continue to blossom!
Mirei is definitely a conversationalist! Feeding her takes forever because she constantly unlatches and take breaks to “talk” to me. Mio never did this, so it’s a new experience for me but I love these little chats Mirei tries to have with me. Nursing is already a valuable and intimate bonding time with baby, but it makes those moments even sweeter!
I posted a snippet of this video on Instagram to just show how Mirei babbles, but a dear friend pointed out that it sounds like Mirei’s saying “hello” at one point! If you listen it at around the 1 minute (1:00) mark, you’ll catch what really does sound like a “hello”! Coincidence or first word…? Dan does often say “Hello Mirei!” to her so it’s very possible that she picked it up from Daddy!
She can also be a little violent… here she is hitting me! She has been doing a lot of this (along with kicking) lately.
Some more photos and video of Mirei this week…
This girl is so strong! She lunged herself forward from a reclining position in her bouncer and almost propelled herself out of it! Gotta keep an eye on her at all times.
We were at Mio’s friend Kailee’s house for a playdate and Kailee wanted to see Mirei riding her carriage. For some reason, this photo cracks me up!
