Cuties Gianna and Mio were born only 20 days apart! They met for the first time the other day for a playdate in Columbia, Maryland. Here are some photos…

So glad we could meet up! Thank you for the fun playdate.

Afterwards, we went to eat some delicious authentic Italian-style pizza at Facci Ristorante in Laurel. It was so nice seeing Gamay and Nan Young again, and meeting their sweet kids Gianna and Abram. We’re looking forward to more playdates with them in the future! 🙂

Spring at Meadowlark

April 30, 2013 By Misono in Family and Friends, Local Gems Tags: garden, geese, koi, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, Meadowlark Gardens, snapping turtles, tulips, Vienna

The weather was beautiful last Saturday, so we spent the afternoon at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. The park has become a favorite place for Mio to go, because my parents and I have taken her at least a half dozen times in the past six months. She loves seeing all the geese and koi fish around the pond, even in the cold winter months. We usually go during the weekdays while Dan is at work, though, so this was Dan’s first time going to Meadowlark. Spring has made it even more beautiful, as a lot of the flowers (especially the tulips!) are in bloom now.

Xiaoyi & Bochen’s Wedding

April 26, 2013 By Misono in Family and Friends, Local Gems Tags: Bochen, Brookside Gardens, Maryland, wedding, Wheaton, Xiaoyi

Last Saturday, we attended Xiaoyi and Bochen’s beautiful wedding at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland! We’d never been to the gardens before, but it was a beautiful location full of flowers, perfect for the couple’s very colorful and lovely celebration! Xiaoyi is a dear friend from college, fellow graphic design major and we even worked together at the same media lab. I have so many wonderful memories with her, and was so happy to be able to attend and witness this happy occasion!

Congratulations Xiaoyi & Bochen!

Remembering Sonja…

April 24, 2013 By Misono in Family and Friends Tags: Bessell, Bowman, cancer, Sonja

Our friend Sonja, whom we learned was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer only weeks ago, has passed on today. She was only 30 years old, and has a loving husband and 4 beautiful young children. I cannot imagine what they’re going through right now, but am praying that they can find some peace during this time. Sonja and the Bessell family are loved by so many; you are always in our hearts, and will be remembered for how warmly you touched all of our lives.

A picture from 2005, when Sonja stayed with us a couple days while visiting DC. She and her husband had just had their first child, and she was one of the first of my friends to show me the joys of motherhood. The role came naturally to her because of her loving, warm personality and it’s how I will always remember her.

Rest in peace, dear Sonja. ❤ I love you.

(There is a donation fund that has been set up to help with the medical costs and funeral expenses that the Bessell family is left with, for those who would like to contribute.)

Yoon & Eric’s Wedding

April 19, 2013 By Misono in Family and Friends Tags: Eric, Lynchburg, The Trivium, Virginia, wedding, Yoon

The happy couple!

One of my dearest friends and college roommates got married last weekend to her longtime sweetheart Eric! The beautiful wedding was at a gorgeous estate near Lynchburg, Virginia. We left Mio with my sister and parents for the weekend, and Dan and I made the 3.5 hour drive down to have a relaxing and memorable weekend celebrating with our friends! Here are some photos from the lovely wedding ceremony and reception…
