Little Dancer

Mio is quite the dancer these days! Here’s a cute video Dan captured of her earlier this month, twirling and jumping to some music.

At the Water Mine

This face.

Dan had been talking about wanting to take us to the Water Mine for a while, as it’s a water park he passes on the way to and from work every day. We decided to go this past Sunday, and it was a whole lot of fun for the whole family! Mio had never been to a water park before, so it was a new and exciting experience for her! She really enjoyed the park, but I think she was also at the same time kind of overwhelmed by all the things to do and all the people there, so she was half in a state of shock… as you’ll see in the pictures.

Arriving at the water park! Oh the excitement!

So much to do!
The water park had inner pool areas with lots of slides and fun play objects, and had a lazy river stream going around the perimeter where people could float on inner tubes.

Where to start?!

Dan even got some video with our point-and-shoot camera (we have an underwater casing for it, and that’s how we took photos and video in the water). Excuse my frowns in the beginning — I was distressed that we were getting sprayed. lol

Mio apparently loved the lazy river, and kept saying "more!" and pointing to the tubes, so Daddy took her on it again.

We ended up spending almost four hours at the water park because Mio couldn’t have enough, and Dan and I were having fun too. The Water Mine is such a fun family activity for the summertime. We’ll definitely be back againbefore summer’s over!

“Dinosaur, SeeSaw, Ice Cream”

August 3, 2013 By Misono in Mio, Videos Tags: dinosaur, ice cream, Mio, seesaw, talking, toy, video

Mio’s definitely picking up words more quickly. I love listening to her talk while she’s playing with her toys — she used to just babble what sounded like nonsense, but now we can make out relevant words. If you watch this recent video of her playing with a seesaw toy and figurines, you can hear her saying, “dinosaur,” “bird,””seesaw,” snf “ice cream”… along with some “oh no”s sprinkled in. And then ending in “off!”

I can’t wait to hear what she’ll be saying next!

Jen’s Homecoming + Debbie’s 30th Birthday

July 29, 2013 By Misono in Family and Friends Tags: 30th birthday, birthday, Debbie, dinner, homecoming, Jen, manicure, pedicure, potluck

Last Saturday, some of my closest high school girlfriends and I got together to celebrate two happy occasions — our dear friend Jen being back in town from Indonesia, and Debbie’s 30th birthday! We started off the afternoon with mani pedis, and then ended the evening with a potluck joined by our guys. I hadn’t seen Jen in five years (!), so it was so nice to see her again after all this time and hear about her overseas adventures, and of course I was thrilled to be there to celebrate my best friend turning 30!

Five Year Wedding Anniversary

July 27, 2013 By Misono in Foodie Love, Local Gems, Seasonal Celebrations Tags: anniversary, dan, dinner, Greek, Nostos, Tysons Corner

July 26th marked our five year wedding anniversary, and while continue to have daily nausea and am not really able to enjoy food these days, we still wanted to keep with our tradition of going to a nice anniversary dinner to celebrate. My parents volunteered to watch Mio while we dined at Nostos, a delicious local Greek restaurant in Tysons Corner.

I’m so happy to be celebrating five years since our wedding, and a decade since embarking on this journey together! I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful husband; especially these days when pregnancy fatigue and nausea have flattened me like a steamroller, he takes care of Mio when he gets back from work so I can get some extra rest, goes on late night runs to bring me whatever food I might be able to stomach even when I don’t ask him to, and just picks up the slack wherever I am failing. Thank you Dan for being the best husband to me and father to our children, my best friend, biggest supporter, daily foot-masseuse, personal cookie baker and sandwich chef, and just being my favorite person in the world. To many more years together… I love you! ♥
