First Snowfall

It snowed for the first time this winter season on Sunday! Mio got to go outside and play in the snow for a little bit with Daddy…

“Bacon!”

December 4, 2013 By Misono in Mio Says Tags: bacon, Mio, quotes, talking, words

Mio is definitely hitting the “verbal explosion” stage these days, and is picking up and repeating several new words every week! As is expected, though, she’ll sometimes mispronounce words or confuse them with other words she already knows. She recently learned the word “naked,” but when the word comes out of her mouth, it sounds more like “bacon.”

Last night after her bath, she ran around sans clothing, pointing at herself and shouting “BACON!!!”

Dan and I couldn’t help but double over in laughter! My mother likes to call Mio a piglet (because of her chubbiness), so I suppose it may not be far from the truth… 😛

Thanksgiving Weekend

Our family had a very delicious and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend! Here are some pictures from the past few days…

So much to be thankful for!

The day after Thanksgiving brought a lot more hustle and bustle to the house. My brother Ted and Elisa had spent Thanksgiving Day in New Jersey, but came to join us for dinner on Friday, as well as Dan’s sister who visited us from New York.

Some more photos of our little cutie…  When I put her hair in a milkmaid braid, she pulled on my bathrobe and called herself “Queen Mio.” 😛

“Gobble Gobble!”

November 28, 2013 By Misono in Kitchen Concoctions, Mio, Seasonal Celebrations, Videos Tags: Mio, preparation, pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving, turkey

Mio can’t contain her excitement about Thanksgiving turkey this year! She’s been making turkey crafts and paintings all month long at preschool, and she always shows me when I pick her up by exclaiming “gobble gobble!”

She got to see the turkey yesterday while I was preparing to brine the turkey, and she got so excited! Watch below for an adorable video full of “Turkey! Gobble gobble!” (She called the brine “soup.”)

She was also in for a treat with preparing pumpkin pies with Daddy later that night!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends! We’re so grateful to be blessed with such a sweet, beautiful, and healthy little girl, and of course another one on the way. 🙂 We’re also thankful for all of our loved ones, near and far!

Training Chopsticks

November 22, 2013 By Misono in Mio, Videos Tags: chopsticks, Mio, tempura, training chopsticks, video

Here’s a video I took of Mio this afternoon of her eating tempura (she loves kakiage in particular for some reason) with her new pair of training chopsticks. She’s already a pro!

I had let Mio try using her friend’s training chopsticks during a playdate earlier this week, and was surprised to see that she was already adept at picking things up with them.

I let Mio try using her friend's training chopsticks and was surprised to see that she was already adept at picking things up with them. Maybe it's time to get her a pair! :)

We got her a pair of Hello Kitty training chopsticks and she’s been picking up everything with them ever since — from tempura to crackers and berries, to even her small toys! I keep telling her she should only use them for food, but I guess for now, she is really into the novelty of the chopsticks and just wants to use them every opportunity she gets.
