We’re excited to announce the completion of a project that has been months in the making — our blog has been redesigned, and is now called “Blooming by the Bay” instead of “Coupled Confessions.” As a few of our friends pointed out, “Coupled Confessions” was no longer very applicable now that little Mio is in the picture, and we are now a family instead of a couple. (Special thanks to our dear friend Tarrin for helping me come up with the new name for the blog!) It has also been over two years since we started this blog, so I thought it was time to give it a new look, too! It took me a lot longer than I expected it to — I’ve found that everything takes ten times longer when you have a baby to take care of! When I initially started this blog, it only took me three days to design and set it up, but I was working on this redesign on and off for over a month! Yikes! I’m so happy and relieved that I’ve finally finished it and can unveil it for you to see! (If you’re reading this through a feed reader or your email inbox, please go ahead and click through and check out the new design.)
Everything was designed by yours truly, and it was a fun project since I rarely have the time nor opportunity to work on any personal projects outside of work these days. It was a great learning experience for me, because this was my first time building a responsive layout. With so many people browsing the web on mobile devices nowadays, I really wanted to redesign the blog so that it would respond to various screen sizes and serve up different layouts accordingly. Using fluid grids, flexible images, and media queries, this has now been made possible on our blog. There are still some tweaks I need to work on (i.e. still trying to get embedded video to be elastic), but hopefully your viewing experience here will be pleasant, no matter what device you may be using! Feel free to drag and collapse your browser window in and out to see how the design and layout changes; I dare you to try to break it — but if you do, please don’t tell me until I’ve had a few days to recover from the brain-racking toll this web development has taken on me. 😉
So begins a new chapter for us in the blogosphere. Say goodbye to Coupled Confessions…

…and hello to Blooming by the Bay!

Please let us know what you think of the new look! Do you love it? Hate it? Don’t give a crap? We’d love to hear your feedback! 😀

Thank you, Lisa, for the flattering comment! I figured since Dan contributes only about 2% of the time to the blog, I’d have it mostly reflect my aesthetic taste. hahaha* 😉

Thank you, Akiyo! 🙂
Yes, I decided we had to add another little birdie in to represent Mio! Glad you took notice! 😀

Yaaaaay! With Clara around, I do all of my browsing from my phone, and now I don’t have to zoom in to read about you and your precious Mio!
November 12, 2011 @ 12:14 am
I totally know how that goes! I feel like the majority of my Internet-browsing/Facebook-stalking is done on my phone these days. It especially helps when nursing and you’re kind of stuck in one place away from the computer. 🙂
I enjoy all your posts about Clara, too! She’s such a sweetheart… 😀

hey Misono! love the redesign…I love how you added another bird to the top to represent Mio! So adorable, you are so talented!
Also, I didn’t have a chance to text you, but it was so much fun to see you when we were in Bay Area! Sorry we didn’t have a chance to stop by at the baby shower… It ended up finishing at around 3:30pm so, we didn’t have time to get there before the end.
We look forward to seeing you in DC area in December! Should be fun!
Thanks and see you soon :)!

Thank you so much, Mie! 🙂 I appreciate the compliments, especially coming from another creative! 😀
We had so much fun hanging out with you, too! I’m glad Mio got to play with Kosei — I’m glad they got along so well. He is such a sweetheart! No worries about not making it to the baby shower. Hope the screening went well — Dan’s parents came back saying they loved it! My dad said he is ordering the DVD, so I’ll get to see it when I’m back in DC for Christmas.
And yes! We should definitely get together during the holidays, too! Can’t wait to see you all again! 😀

November 17, 2011 @ 8:24 pm
Misono, your new blog looks really nice! I’m happy you kept it somehow similar in style. And it was a good idea to change the name and include Mio now that you’re three 🙂 Now I’m going to catch up on all the posts I missed since last I was here! Keep up the good work!
November 18, 2011 @ 7:44 am
Thank you Ann Helen! 😀 I’m so happy you like it! I did want to sort of keep with the original style of the blog, and just sort of update the design, so I’m glad that was successful! 🙂

Misono-
I am beyond impressed with the new site. It’s pretty and all but I’m actually more blown away by how dynamic you’ve made it. There’s a lot more technical expertise than you let on!

Thanks so much for the compliments, Brian! 🙂 It’s tough keeping up with all the .new standards and functionality that the web has to offer, but I’m glad that people like the redesign!
