Mio loves playing いない いない ばあ (“inai, inai, baa”), which is the Japanese version of peek-a-boo. We’ve played it since she was a newborn, but lately she’s been doing it back to us! She’ll hide behind something and I’ll say “inai inai” — because she can’t say that part herself yet — and then she’ll pop out and say “baa!” (The literal translation of “inai, inai, baa” is something along the lines of “I’m not here, I’m not here… BOO!”) It’s pretty funny and adorable to watch, and I love seeing this playful side of Mio emerging.

Here’s a video I took of her playing peek-a-boo behind the pillows on our bed. (The last ten seconds are the best…)
