We feel lucky that we live only blocks away from Solano Avenue, which boasts an abundance of some of the most delectable eats in the East Bay! (Among our favorites: Zachary’s Chicago-Style Pizza Gordo Taqueria, Little Star Pizza, The Sunny Side Café, and House of Curries….) On Sunday, the street held their annual street festival called Solano Stroll, and we decided to walk over and check it out after hearing about it from our friends!
There was no shortage of street food vendors, but some of the restaurants were also offering some great discounted prices on platters, so Dan jumped at the opportunity to get some Indian food!
Dan took this video of some funnel cakes being made.
After walking around in the crowd for a couple hours, it started getting pretty hot so Dan and I got some ice cream cones to cool down.
It was a fun couple of hours walking around and enjoying the good food and getting to see all the cool art! The Bay Area definitely has such talented artists — they inspire us to be more creative ourselves! It was too bad we couldn’t go on any of the rides, but maybe we’ll get our chance in a few years when Mio’s old enough to go on them. 🙂

Looks good! I wish I had known about it! Ed and I were just on Solano the other night getting sushi. Now I am intrigued about House of Curries:)

There’s a lot of good Indian on Solano! House of Curries, of course, as well as Khana Peena and Cafe Raj (where we ate in the photos)! I’ve never had any of the sushi on Solano. Was it good? Where did you guys go? I’d love to try it too! 😀
We should hang out again soon! I haven’t seen you guys since you became Mr & Mrs!

I can’t wait to meet Sophie the Giraffe–I wonder what fun stories and baby secrets she can tell me about her close friend, little miss Mio 🙂

hahaha* Boy, will she have stories to tell you!
It’s funny because a man passed by our stroller at the festival and commented, “Poor giraffe.” because Mio was chewing viciously away at Sophie’s legs! haha* Poor giraffe indeed….

We love Khana Peena, too! But the place we stopped was Cafe Raj, closer to the San Pablo end of Solano. We were so hungry when we got there that we just hopped into the first Indian place we found! haha*

this place looks awesome. Good curry, handmade clothes and the picture of Mio staring at the ice cream. I love that picture!
