I’m home alone this weekend while Dan goes down to LA to take care of some business. He left early this morning at dark o’clock, only to return a couple hours later with a big fat dent in the left side of my Fit! Apparently a woman rear-ended him while he was enroute to picking up his brother. 🙁 Thankfully no one was hurt.
Here’s the damage…
My poor little Fit… I only got her a few months ago, too! Â Oh well… at least no one was injured and the accident wasn’t Dan’s fault so we won’t have to pay for any of the repairs.
Dan headed back out a few hours ago, and this time they are taking his brother’s car. Hopefully they will have a safe trip there and back. Be careful, hubby!

Yea, I cringed when I woke up and went to survey the damage. I know you can expect accidents to happen at some point, but I just didn’t think our new car would get damaged so soon.
Hopefully she’ll look like new again soon!

Thanks Pat! It could have been a lot worse, so although the car got a dent, I’m glad everyone walked away from it without a scratch.

oh man! too bad but good thing everyone was OK. my mom said they’d all meet up in San Lorenzo this morning but I found it odd that they didn’t–wonder if this had anything to do with it. yes, SAFETY first!

You’re right, safety first. 🙂 I’m glad I wasn’t in the car because I would have been freaking out. After being in two accidents, I just can’t take anymore trauma like that.
Yea, the accident is probably why they never made it to San Lorenzo. Ted came directly to El Cerrito with his car and they just switched cars here.

Glad to hear no one was hurt. And thank goodness, the lady had the insurance coverage to pay for your damage! BTW, what happened to the tire? It looked like a spare tire.

I’m really glad that we don’t have to pay for the damage and that the lady had the insurance to cover it, too.
Oh! I forgot to mention that the tire actually was busted during the accident too, so Dan had to drive back with a spare. It’s annoying because we JUST got a flat tire last month while driving to San Francisco, and had to get it replaced then too! 🙁

Yeah it was quite a shock, it all happened so suddenly. 880 South suddenly got shutdown and the 2 fast lanes were coned off really abruptly. I managed to come to a stop quickly, but only 3 seconds later the car directly behind me slammed into the driver rear side of the car.
Her car was probably totaled (06 Corolla), but I hope the Fit only suffered body damage.

Thanks Hanna! 🙂
We just got an estimate on the repairs for the damage and it’s over $5K. 🙁 Still waiting to hear back from the other person’s insurance on whether they’ll be able to cover it all.
