Dan and I have been making our own artisan bread at home lately! Our latest creation was some cheese bread — we used Asiago cheese, garlic, minced onion, rosemary, Italian seasoning, and even some red pepper! The result was a deliciously flavorful golden brown loaf.
There’s plenty of cheese inside the bread, but I love how the top gets encrusted in the molten Asiago, too.
Kneading dough is so much easier, faster, and thorough with the Kitchenaid. We’ve already been getting a lot of use out of it! I used it the other day to make gyoza dumplings, too. 🙂 The hubby has been really impressed by how powerful it is, and says we should’ve gotten it sooner. All I can say is “I told you so”….

Tabetai! You have a breadmaker?

No, I don’t. 🙁 But artisan bread is great because you don’t need a breadmaker and they come out tasting so good! 🙂 We got this book that my friend recommended and it’s so easy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0312362919

Oh, Misono!! did I tell you about AB in 5 minutes a day? I have that book too!!! I don’t buy bread anymore! I just made a banana bread a couple of days ago. Not like a cake, but a real bread, and no sugar in the recipe! 🙂 You should follow their blog, so much interesting stuff to read there: http://www.artisanbreadinfive.com

You were the one who first told me about that book! 🙂 I went out and bought it because that bread you made for me that one time was so delicious! So much better than store-bought bread. 🙂 I’m excited to try making all kinds of breads they feature… I want to try making ciabatta next! 😀

I almost bought that book too! It was going to be a gift but I ended up getting something else. If I was making homemade bread that’d be my go-to resource!

It’s a great book! We initially found it at B&N but it was a little pricey, so Dan found it for me on Half.com. It’s really great; they feature all varieties of bread and a lot of whole wheat options too.
Ann Helen told me that they also released a book for even healthier bread (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0312545525) due to the increasing demand for gluten-free and whole grains.

Asiago is my #1 migraine trigger. For some reason, it causes migraines that last 2+ days. That being said, it looks delicious.

Wow, I didn’t know that Asiago cheese could have that kind of an effect on people! 🙁 I’m sorry to hear that… I wonder if the recipe would work with a different cheese, like Parmesan…?
