The local county fair, Celebrate Fairfax!, was this past weekend and we spent most of our Saturday there — there were plenty of rides, entertainment, games, crafts and food there to keep us busy!
Eating a lamb gyro before moving onto the rides.
Dan got a Polish hot dog which was pretty good, too!
Dan and Mio on the boat ride
Mio on the miniature drop tower. Our little thrill seeker!
Some funny video we got of Mio on the drop tower. Love how she chimed in with the other kids! lol
Bumblebee ride:
Fishing game:
Mio and I waiting in line for the caterpillar coaster ride.
Mio’s first “rollercoaster”!
Selfie video I took of Mio’s reactions on the ride. (At the end, she asks “can you more?” which means she liked it! haha*)
The sisters at the county fair.
They had a petting zoo there as well!
Mio petting a lamb.
Mio’s favorite was the tortoise! She’s really into turtles lately.
First time touching a real turtle!
Mirei got to see the animals, too!
Mio petting a goat.
This baby bunny was so cute!!! I wanted to take it home with me.
Riding the train ride.
Mio on the train.
Playing with the train table at the fair.
Mio with her balloon turtle. She loved it and named it “Crush” (like the turtle from Finding Nemo)
Mirei got a balloon heart.
Making a bunny mask with Daddy at the craft table.
Ending our day at the fair with some delicious ice cream from Blue Sky Creamery. It’s made using liquid nitrogen and was so smooth!
We spent last Sunday at Lewes Beach in Delaware! It was our first time at the beach this year, and Mirei’s first time ever. Mio has been talking about the beach a lot lately so we’re so glad we could take her — she had so much fun! She’s been saying, “Go back to beach!” ever since. Here are some photos of all the fun in the sun!
Dan and Mio soaking up the sun.
Going into the water… it was still a little cold, but that didn’t stop them!
Sweet Mirei in the shade of our beach umbrella.
Playing in the sand.
Building things in the sand…
Mirei staying nice and dry.
With our 4 month old chubster!
The sisters together ♥
Mirei giggles a lot lately! Can’t get enough!
Our little family at Lewes Beach
Mio loves getting spun around by Daddy
Getting buried in the sand.
Mio getting some serious air!
We wrapped up our time in Lewes by stopping by to eat crabs for dinner at The Surfing Crab.
Mirei and I waiting for dinner.
Mio was passed out from all the fun at the beach! She slept almost the whole ride home, too.
Delicious blue crabs!
The girls enjoyed the beach so much that we’ll definitely have to go to more this summer!
Mirei is definitely a conversationalist! Feeding her takes forever because she constantly unlatches and take breaks to “talk” to me. Mio never did this, so it’s a new experience for me but I love these little chats Mirei tries to have with me. Nursing is already a valuable and intimate bonding time with baby, but it makes those moments even sweeter!
I posted a snippet of this video on Instagram to just show how Mirei babbles, but a dear friend pointed out that it sounds like Mirei’s saying “hello” at one point! If you listen it at around the 1 minute (1:00) mark, you’ll catch what really does sound like a “hello”! Coincidence or first word…? Dan does often say “Hello Mirei!” to her so it’s very possible that she picked it up from Daddy!
She can also be a little violent… here she is hitting me! She has been doing a lot of this (along with kicking) lately.
Some more photos and video of Mirei this week…
This girl is so strong! She lunged herself forward from a reclining position in her bouncer and almost propelled herself out of it! Gotta keep an eye on her at all times.
We were at Mio’s friend Kailee’s house for a playdate and Kailee wanted to see Mirei riding her carriage. For some reason, this photo cracks me up!
Today, we attended Miwa’s graduation ceremony at George Mason University’s Patriot Center! She had her department graduation ceremony on Wednesday evening, and this ceremony on Saturday morning was for all the graduates of spring 2014.
The girls and I waiting for the commencement ceremony to begin.
The graduates entering…
Mirei in the Ergo Baby, looking up at me. She was well-behaved and quiet during most of the ceremony!
Mio also did pretty well, though she did start getting restless halfway in.
It took us a while to figure out exactly where Miwa was… can you spot her?
Found her!
Over 7,000 graduates!
Mirei looking rather grumpy… thankfully Daddy did a great job calming her.
Congratulations to all the graduates of 2014!
Group picture after going out to lunch to celebrate Miwa’s graduation.
Mio and Obaachan. I realized we actually have few photos of Mio with my parents… have to remember to take more!
Congratulations, Miwa! Can’t believe my baby sister is now a college graduate — so proud of her! ♥
Some snapshots and video of the girls from this past week…
Here’s Mirei at 15 weeks old.
Having some quiet time alone with Mama on the mornings Mio is at preschool.
Mio has a tendency lately to just fall asleep wherever she is playing. She refuses to willingly take naps, but still gets tired so often drifts off to sleep mid-activity. Here she is asleep nearby the shoe rack…
Mirei in a milk coma
Mio came over after bathtime like this and said “Boo!” to me.
Dan playing patty-cake with Mirei the other night…
Sisters hanging out on the bed. Both look extra chubby from this angle! lol
Mirei in her crib
Mio trying on a Minnie Mouse costume she received as a birthday present.
She LOVES Minnie Mouse right now, so she was so happy to match her doll!
Thank you Maya & the Beltrami family!
Nan Young brought Gianna and Abram over for a playdate on Thursday. Here are the kids looking at earthworms in the backyard before it started thunderstorming.
Dr. Gianna examining baby Mirei. “Good girl, you didn’t cry when I gave you the shot!” I loved listening to her — so funny and cute!
Mio suddenly looks so grown up in this photo! Please don’t grow up too fast…
