Mio has a Japanese music book that we’ve let her listen to since she was a newborn — it has pages with lyrics and illustrations to some Japanese children’s songs, and there are buttons that you can press to hear the music play as you look at the pages. (Her favorite song Usagi no Dansu which she used to dance to is in it, too!)
Lately, she’s able to press the buttons herself to play the music, and she starts to clap as the music starts. It tickles me how she only claps the first few moments, and then goes onto press the button again (or another button) before the song even finishes.
Oh Mio, you are more fun to watch than ever! 🙂 Mommy and Daddy can’t get enough of you! ♥
…they do! Every parent tells me this, but it’s really true! Mio turned 29 weeks yesterday, and her smiles have changed. Before, they’d creep across her face and were given with a bit of reservation, oftentimes disappearing after a few seconds. In the last few days, her smiles seem to have keyed up a notch and are a lot more enthusiastic and wholehearted… I’m not sure how else to describe it except that they’re so animated that they take up her entire face! Her nose scrunches up, her eyes disappear into crescents, and her mouth opens wide to reveal her toothy grin (well, as toothy as you can get with just two bottom teeth). They are the most adorable smiles I’ve ever seen, and are truly infectious!

…and I shall end with yet another photo of that smile of hers. Just can’t get enough of them! 😛
Between working and taking care of Mio, it’s hard to find time to upload all the photos and videos that we take of her. Our precious little girl is 19 weeks old as of last Saturday; here are some pictures and video footage from this past week…
Mio likes to be upright and push her feet against the floor, so we recently got a doorway jumper so she could jump up and down in it. Great exercise for the legs!
I had web conference to attend on Saturday, so Dan and Mio drove over to San Lorenzo to spend the day with the grandparents! Dan took these photos and video:

Looks like she had a great time, as always, with her grandparents! 🙂
You can see her squeals and laughter in the following video, where we have some fun with Hello Kitty:
Our little Mio is growing up so fast, she’s making our heads spin! We have to remember to stop and cherish each of these moments and hold her close, because before we know it, she won’t want to be held anymore….
Mio is 15 weeks old today, and our little roly poly has been rolling over all over the place since she learned how earlier this week. I took multiple video clips on my phone over the past few days, and Dan helped me compile them into a video montage set to music. Enjoy! 🙂
Maybe it’s because I’m 38 weeks pregnant and am more emotional and mercurial than ever (Yesterday, I had a bout of hysteria when I realized that my engagement ring and wedding band would no longer come off of my swollen finger and that they were cutting off my circulation. Thankfully, after some diligent prodding with soapy water in the shower, I was able to finally get them off and save said finger from the possible disastrous fate of amputation that I so feared)… or maybe it’s because my anxieties are only mounting higher than Mt. Everest along with my burgeoning belly… but watching the following video today made me cry like a baby.
It’s an encouraging compilation of footage of mothers and what they would tell themselves if they could go back to just before their first child was born.
