It seems that spring is finally here. Or rather, based on the weather we’ve been getting this week, that we’ve skipped it altogether and jumped from winter to summer! We’ve been enjoying temperatures up in 80s so far this week, but after months of chilliness, the warmer weather is a welcome respite. I’m not complaining!
Here are some snapshots from the past few days, including the weekend.
First spring flowers in her hair… “Mommy, I’m ready for Coachella!”
Wrapping up cookies for a bridal shower order. With spring-inspired floral decorations…
Lunch at Temari together on Saturday before Dan left for the NAB Show in Vegas.
Sakura mochi from Temari… the only place I can find it in the DC area!
Celebrating my sister Miwa’s 23rd birthday on Saturday.
Mio and I spent Sunday afternoon at Great Falls.
We got to hang out with this new family of four: Pat, Theo, Anna and Cara!

Not spring-related, but Mio learned how to climb out of the crib this week. I caught her in mid-escape this morning!
Mio having her first popsicle with her new friend Kailee. â¤
Sharing a cold bite in this 80 degree weather. Of course, they wanted to try each other’s popsicle flavors. 😉
They say the best camera is the one that you have with you. I guess I get lazy and don’t like to lug our DSLR everywhere unless it’s a special outing, so most of the candid everyday moments are captured on my iPhone. I know “iPhoneography” it may not be the best for posterity and archival purposes, since the camera on the phone has its limitations and its photos don’t have as high a resolution nor as accurate colors as those from our T3i, but it’s just so much easier to pull out my phone, snap a picture, apply any filters or frame it however I want, and then just share it on social media, all within a minute on my phone.
Here are some everyday snapshots from the past week that I took of Mio and other fun moments.
18 month old Mio, with a full head of curls. So sweet.
At the play area inside the mall… good for days when it’s too chilly to go outside!Â
Mio with Obaachan (grandma).
Ladies’ night last Saturday to celebrate Lan’s birthday! We started the evening off with delicious ramen at Ren’s and then went to karaoke. Here’s the birthday gal showing us some gangnam style! 😉
All bundled up in her adorable lamb hat (courtesy of Sarah ♥) and mittens! 🙂 Channeling Pebbles from the Flintstones… She just needs the red hair!
Auntie Miwa having too much fun with Mio’s hair during bathtime.
She was hugging that bottle of salad dressing and calling it “Daddy” all morning today… #weirdo #confused
September has been quite an eventful month, with plenty of ups and downs! With a cross-country move and a whirlwind of changes, it’s been both exciting and exhausting. I’m ready for things to calm down and to just sit back, breathe in the fall air, and admire the beautiful colors that autumn will bring. (I think the fall season is one of the things I missed the most about the East Coast!)
Mio has been loving all the space she has to run around in, and practically lives in the backyard during the daytime. Here are some snapshots I took with my phone yesterday while she was enjoying the last of the September sunshine…
