Summer passed by all too quickly this year, and I have been really awful at keeping this space updated in the past several weeks. I thought I’d do a little compilation post of photos and videos here of some of our favorite cute/humorous moments captured on camera to share… better late than never, right?
…and thus follows the photo dump of all photo dumps.
Pooltime on the porch.
“Pool boy! Another margarita, please.”
“Just kidding!” 😉
Mio’s been obsessed with TMNT lately (or as she calls them, “masked turtles”). Today she’s Raphael and Mirei’s been anointed as Leonardo. (To me, they look more matsuri-ready…)
Mio patiently waiting for lunch at Santini’s. One of those moments where she still looks like a baby to me.
Lunch out with Daddy… one of her favorite moments.
Gelato and bingsoo at Sweetberry
Sticker-happy after a visit to Trader Joes.
All it takes is a blanket to keep them giggling non-stop!
Mio in her new bed!
Mio lined up these little animal dolls around Mirei as she slept on the Boppy.
Mirei’s first playdate with Lily. Mirei’s always tagging along to playdates for big sister, so it was nice to have a playdate for Mirei for once!
Mio pretending to kick Mirei… tsk tsk. Sisters…
Not sure what is going on here, but it looks like Mio is attempting to lick Mirei’s back?!
Mirei carrying big sister’s Minion backpack… which is almost the same size as her.
Such a funny sight!
Sisters both napping, in similar positions but in different places. (Mio fell asleep where she was playing, as usual…)
Mirei making an interesting fashion statement… (she can thank Auntie Miwa)
Crawling everywhere!
Sweet Mio Our little angel ♥ She loves to roll herself up in her blankets. Silly girl ♥ Mirei pulling herself up to stand by the cooler.
Mio playing frisbee with Daddy and Auntie in the backyard.
Mio coming down the slide at Meadow Lane Park Sleeping giant at the park.
Mio riding the roundabout at the park:
Mirei being held by Obaachan 7 month old Mirei
Mio painting on the porch Caught red-handed, getting into the diapers and making a mess! Looking a lot like Daddy! Going to the Lee District spray park again on Labor Day.Â
with my sweet M&Ms.
Mirei with Daddy
Mio is very much into making faces in selfies lately. She looks very fierce here! Kissy-face selfie. Mio likes to be in a “towel burrito,” as she calls it, after bathtime. M&M in the window. Standing in the crib already! Our first time going to Japanese Storytime – wish I’d known about it sooner! Mirei was actually quite the social butterfly, constantly crawling away to other babies, making new friends. Mio preferred keeping to herself and exploring all the books there. An ecstatic Mio with her mango popsicle.
Our resident flappy-bird…
Mirei playing with a taiko toy at a birthday party. Spending a Sunday at the park Stay forever Sunday. Mirei will pull herself up to standing position every opportunity she gets! “Daddy put me in the laundry basket.”
Some snapshots and video of the girls from this past week…
Here’s Mirei at 15 weeks old. Having some quiet time alone with Mama on the mornings Mio is at preschool. Mio has a tendency lately to just fall asleep wherever she is playing. She refuses to willingly take naps, but still gets tired so often drifts off to sleep mid-activity. Here she is asleep nearby the shoe rack… Mirei in a milk coma Mio came over after bathtime like this and said “Boo!” to me.
Dan playing patty-cake with Mirei the other night…
Sisters hanging out on the bed. Both look extra chubby from this angle! lol Mirei in her crib Mio trying on a Minnie Mouse costume she received as a birthday present. She LOVES Minnie Mouse right now, so she was so happy to match her doll! Thank you Maya & the Beltrami family! Nan Young brought Gianna and Abram over for a playdate on Thursday. Here are the kids looking at earthworms in the backyard before it started thunderstorming.
Dr. Gianna examining baby Mirei. “Good girl, you didn’t cry when I gave you the shot!” I loved listening to her — so funny and cute!
Mio suddenly looks so grown up in this photo! Please don’t grow up too fast…
Family lunch date at Luciano’s after picking Mio up from preschool on Veteran’s Day last week. Our little lamb fell asleep in Daddy’s arms during lunch. She rarely falls asleep on us like this these days, so I had to capture it. Reminds me of her baby days!
Here’s Mio admiring the Christmas model village they had on display while we were shopping at Michaels. She kept saying “sugo-i!” (Japanese for amazing, wonderful, awesome, basically anything that is impressive and knocks your socks off.) We had her repeat it for the video below:
Dan took Mio grocery shopping with him on Sunday afternoon, and she fell asleep so he pushed her around like this in the cart.
Ted and Jackie were in DC visiting on Tuesday! We had a memorable day at the Museum of Natural History.
After enjoying a late lunch and desserts in Georgetown.
Masquerading with animal masks and dress-up at Kailee’s. All smiles with her balloon after her dentist check-up today! (This was her second trip to the dentist ever – the first was back in May.) Pearly whites are looking good!
Can’t believe Thanksgiving and Christmas is right around the corner! The holidays are my favorite time of year. ♥
Mio’s showing so much personality these days! She’s so quirky and is always making everyone around her laugh. Here are some priceless moments that we’ve captured in the past week…
Love her expressions! They crack me up. Nemo peeking out from behind her is a funny touch…
Wild rider!
The road to potty training is long and arduous. Today Mio ran around wearing her potty seat around like it was a floatie. Starting to think she’ll still be in diapers when we send her off to college…
Interestingly, Mio’s favorite item from her trick-or-treating loot is this pair of fangs…
These last couple ones aren’t comedic moments, but they’re still cute so I threw them in. 🙂
