Sending love to all the wonderful mamas out there, including my own wonderful mother and mother-in-law. ♥ I still have a lot to learn as I’ve only been a mom for just over two years, but I have such amazing women to look to as examples. Happy Mother’s Day!
I received a Mother’s Day corsage in the morning! 🙂
The weather was beautiful, so Mio and I took some pictures outdoors.
Sweet Mio handing me a buttercup she plucked.
Thank you for showing me all the joys (and challenges!) of motherhood, Mio! You make it all worth it.
Our little family on Mother’s Day.
My mom came by just then, so we got a picture of us together, 3 generations! Happy Mother’s Day mama!
Afterwards, Dan and Mio surprised me with an adorable card and gift — Cupcake Diaries, which features many of the delicious recipes from Georgetown Cupcakes of DC Cupcakes fame. I can’t wait to try making them!
With that, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes about motherhood…
I feel like I’m using my camera less and less these days — I only seem to pull it out when we go somewhere new on weekends, or when it’s a special occasion. It’s hard to take the time to appreciate and document the everyday moments, especially lately as I’ve been wrapped up in trying to balance taking care of a toddler with a rush of freelance work (I had a dry period of work, but of course when it rains, it pours! ) but I’m always reminding myself that I need to be more present in these precious moments that I have with her.
I’ve gotten so used to capturing my time with Mio on the phone, but I decided to pull out the DSLR today while we spent the day indoors on this rainy day…
She kept trying to blow on the fluffball at the end of this earpick, as if it was a dandelion. I only showed her once the other day in the backyard, and she’s already picked it up!Â
Dan’s sister Hyo came to visit us for the weekend of May 4-5, which also happened to Cinco de Mayo and Kodomo no Hi weekend! She snapped some great photos of Mio while she stayed with us, which I wanted to share on the blog…
Thanks for the awesome pictures, Hyo! Here are some of my own snapshots (mostly taken on the phone) from the weekend…
All smiles at lunch.
Red curry, tamarind shrimp, and pad see ew from Natta Thai. So delicious!

This was a run and gun test using the Black Magic Cinema Camera. This was the first time shooting outdoors without the help of an EVF or other devices. There were many shots in there that can be considered ruined, however the amazing flexibility of the Raw saved these shots. This was most apparent when I was in harsh sunlight where the LCD is practically useless.
Ultimately I created this short to test the dynamic range of the camera. Without a doubt, it is an amazing performer.
Cuties Gianna and Mio were born only 20 days apart! They met for the first time the other day for a playdate in Columbia, Maryland. Here are some photos…
Mio giving Gianna a present for her and 2 week old Abram. We met up at Lake Elkhorn Park.
Gianna giving Mio a hug. So sweet!
We later moved to a play area within The Mall at Columbia, due to the cold. Gianna was so active!
2 year old cuties! Both April babies.
Nan Young said that Mio reminds her of a panda… lol. I can definitely see it!
They played well together!
Riding the carousel within the mall. Mio, who still thinks horses are the same as cows, wouldn’t stop “moo”-ing!
So glad we could meet up! Thank you for the fun playdate.
Afterwards, we went to eat some delicious authentic Italian-style pizza at Facci Ristorante in Laurel. It was so nice seeing Gamay and Nan Young again, and meeting their sweet kids Gianna and Abram. We’re looking forward to more playdates with them in the future! 🙂
