Our family had a very delicious and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend! Here are some pictures from the past few days…
Our little cutie on Thanksgiving, with the painting she made at preschool.
We brined the turkey this year! 21 lbs of moist deliciousness!
Complete with sides, many of which the hubby prepared…
Great job Dan and Mio on the pumpkin pie!
So much to be thankful for…
…especially these two. They are my world!
Mio and I, stuffed after Thanksgiving dinner.
The day after Thanksgiving brought a lot more hustle and bustle to the house. My brother Ted and Elisa had spent Thanksgiving Day in New Jersey, but came to join us for dinner on Friday, as well as Dan’s sister who visited us from New York.
The Yokoyama day-after-Thanksgiving dinner. Gotta have our sashimi fix!
Spending the weekend with Hyo. It was so nice having her visit!
Chicken masala pasty from The Pure Pasty for lunch on Sunday. Delicious!
“All aboard!” Mio playing at the red caboose train that I used to play at as a child in Old Town Vienna.
Some more photos of our little cutie…Â When I put her hair in a milkmaid braid, she pulled on my bathrobe and called herself “Queen Mio.” 😛
Mio can’t contain her excitement about Thanksgiving turkey this year! She’s been making turkey crafts and paintings all month long at preschool, and she always shows me when I pick her up by exclaiming “gobble gobble!”
She got to see the turkey yesterday while I was preparing to brine the turkey, and she got so excited! Watch below for an adorable video full of “Turkey! Gobble gobble!” (She called the brine “soup.”)
She was also in for a treat with preparing pumpkin pies with Daddy later that night!
Pouring the condensed milk in.
Mixing the egg into the batter.
Mio was very interested in every step.
She loved participating!
Mio loved being a part of Thanksgiving preparation!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends! We’re so grateful to be blessed with such a sweet, beautiful, and healthy little girl, and of course another one on the way. 🙂 We’re also thankful for all of our loved ones, near and far!
Here’s a video I took of Mio this afternoon of her eating tempura (she loves kakiage in particular for some reason) with her new pair of training chopsticks. She’s already a pro!
I had let Mio try using her friend’s training chopsticks during a playdate earlier this week, and was surprised to see that she was already adept at picking things up with them.
We got her a pair of Hello Kitty training chopsticks and she’s been picking up everything with them ever since — from tempura to crackers and berries, to even her small toys! I keep telling her she should only use them for food, but I guess for now, she is really into the novelty of the chopsticks and just wants to use them every opportunity she gets.
Family lunch date at Luciano’s after picking Mio up from preschool on Veteran’s Day last week.
Our little lamb fell asleep in Daddy’s arms during lunch.
She rarely falls asleep on us like this these days, so I had to capture it. Reminds me of her baby days!
Here’s Mio admiring the Christmas model village they had on display while we were shopping at Michaels. She kept saying “sugo-i!” (Japanese for amazing, wonderful, awesome, basically anything that is impressive and knocks your socks off.) We had her repeat it for the video below:
Dan took Mio grocery shopping with him on Sunday afternoon, and she fell asleep so he pushed her around like this in the cart.
Ted and Jackie were in DC visiting on Tuesday! We had a memorable day at the Museum of Natural History.
After enjoying a late lunch and desserts in Georgetown.
Masquerading with animal masks and dress-up at Kailee’s.
All smiles with her balloon after her dentist check-up today! (This was her second trip to the dentist ever – the first was back in May.) Pearly whites are looking good!
Can’t believe Thanksgiving and Christmas is right around the corner! The holidays are my favorite time of year. ♥
This time of year is gorgeous with all the beautiful fall foliage. Dan took some footage of Mio last weekend enjoying autumn, and created this sweet video! (Make sure to watch in HD!)
I love that Dan can create these beautiful videos that we can look back on when Mio is older to remember how she was in her younger years. I’m sure she’ll love to watch them, too! (If you missed the one he made this past spring, you can find it here.)
