We spent a Saturday afternoon at the playground at Cunningham Park with the girls in late November — it was really brisk that day! Now that Mirei is walking, she can enjoy the playground a lot more alongside Mio.
The cold doesn’t stop these girls!
Bundled up and having fun!
Our purple Michelin baby coming towards me:
Going down the slide together.
Why so serious?
It’s so sweet to watch them begin to play together… 🙂
You can add “fashion model” to Mio’s growing list of talents and aspirations… lately, she loves dressing up (and is super picky about her clothes, much to my chagrin) and loves raiding my jewelry and accessories, as well as my sister Miwa’s… here she is sporting Auntie Miwa’s sunglasses and posing like a pro. Someone give this girl a fashion blog!
As frustrating as it is at times to have to clean up after Mio raiding our stuff, and having her occasionally break a necklace here, a hair accessory there… we can’t stay mad at this face for too long!
Mio surprised us today by randomly reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in its entirety! We had no idea that she’d been learning it at preschool. We got her to repeat it, and captured it on video!
The leaves have been turning colors and falling to the ground, there’s a chill in the air… it’s definitely fall, and the girls have been reveling in it the past few weeks.
We realized that we have very few family photos of all four of us… so we set up the tripod and took a couple!

Making funny faces to make her little sister laugh…
Silly girl!
Temperatures are quickly dropping and as Thanksgiving nears, we’re definitely starting to experience more wintery weather!
We have been putting off cutting Mio’s hair for years, because we love the way her baby hair curls into adorable ringlets at the end, but we decided it was probably time to just get it cut already, because it was getting so uneven and they’d sometimes get tangled. Dan’s actually the one who was more attached to the curls, as he takes really good care to condition them during and after bathtime, so on Saturday before the haircut, he made sure to cut and save a lock as a keepsake and take some before-and-after photos to commemorate the milestone!
Mio, pre-haircut:
Goodbye, baby curls…
We went to Cartoon Cuts in Fair Oaks Mall for Mio’s first haircut. They seemed a little rough with keeping her head in position, but they did a good job of keeping her occupied during the haircut and we were pleased with the result.
Here’s a video during the haircut:
…and post-haircut photos:
We miss the cute curls, but we have to admit that her hair’s so much more even and clean-looking now!
She looks so grownup… 🙂
Checking out her new look in the mirror.
Her hair is so much easier to wash and take care of now, too. Overall, we’re happy with Mio’s new hair and she seems to like it, too! 🙂
