Following this winter’s first snowfall on Sunday, we got about five more inches of snow on Tuesday morning! Dan worked a partial day from home, and in the afternoon, we got to have some fun playing out in the snow in the backyard. (Mio’s preschool was cancelled both Monday and Tuesday, so she got to stay home too.)
Winter wonderland.
Mio leaving her tiny footprints in the snow…
Making a snowman with Daddy!
“Hi snowman!”
Mio’s first snowman… though Daddy did the brunt of the work. 😉
I’d missed this kind of snowscape while we were out in California.
Everything blanketed in white.
So pretty… but it sure is cold!
Mio squinting as snow flies while Dan packs the snow. It was perfect snowman snow!
Mio hugging the snowman. I thought it was funny that we didn’t use the traditional coal eyes and carrot nose, but Dan insisted that it was an “albino snowman.”
Our family had a very delicious and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend! Here are some pictures from the past few days…
Our little cutie on Thanksgiving, with the painting she made at preschool.
We brined the turkey this year! 21 lbs of moist deliciousness!
Complete with sides, many of which the hubby prepared…
Great job Dan and Mio on the pumpkin pie!
So much to be thankful for…
…especially these two. They are my world!
Mio and I, stuffed after Thanksgiving dinner.
The day after Thanksgiving brought a lot more hustle and bustle to the house. My brother Ted and Elisa had spent Thanksgiving Day in New Jersey, but came to join us for dinner on Friday, as well as Dan’s sister who visited us from New York.
The Yokoyama day-after-Thanksgiving dinner. Gotta have our sashimi fix!
Spending the weekend with Hyo. It was so nice having her visit!
Chicken masala pasty from The Pure Pasty for lunch on Sunday. Delicious!
“All aboard!” Mio playing at the red caboose train that I used to play at as a child in Old Town Vienna.
Some more photos of our little cutie…Â When I put her hair in a milkmaid braid, she pulled on my bathrobe and called herself “Queen Mio.” 😛
July 26th marked our five year wedding anniversary, and while continue to have daily nausea and am not really able to enjoy food these days, we still wanted to keep with our tradition of going to a nice anniversary dinner to celebrate. My parents volunteered to watch Mio while we dined at Nostos, a delicious local Greek restaurant in Tysons Corner.
My favorite was the perfectly seared sea scallops!
Fried fresh calamari with lobster tomato sauce
Enjoying our first dinner date out sans Mio in months! I could only eat a little of each dish, but it was all delicious.
Meat sampler of biftekakia, chicken skewers, lamb chops
The handsome hubby! Happy anniversary ♥
I’m so happy to be celebrating five years since our wedding, and a decade since embarking on this journey together! I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful husband; especially these days when pregnancy fatigue and nausea have flattened me like a steamroller, he takes care of Mio when he gets back from work so I can get some extra rest, goes on late night runs to bring me whatever food I might be able to stomach even when I don’t ask him to, and just picks up the slack wherever I am failing. Thank you Dan for being the best husband to me and father to our children, my best friend, biggest supporter, daily foot-masseuse, personal cookie baker and sandwich chef, and just being my favorite person in the world. To many more years together… I love you! ♥
While I was in Philadelphia last weekend, Dan’s company had their annual family picnic on Saturday. He took Mio along and she had a blast! I’m so glad he took all these pictures so that I could see all the fun and share a little in the experience!
Scitor Company Picnic
Mio loved all the toys and goodies they gave her.
She was munching away at some watermelon when…
…someone special in the distance caught her eye!
Elmo!!! She immediately ran over. (She’s been obsessed with Elmo latley.)
Getting a hug from her favorite character.
Abby Cadabby was there, too!
Giving Abby a high five!
Mio was mesmerized.
She kept going back to Elmo for hugs. 🙂
There was even a petting farm set up at the picnic!
Mio planting a kiss on the pony.
Petting a Peking duck… yes, that kind. Who knew something so delicious is also this cute?
Mio also got to see a python!
She even touched the tail! Definitely braver than her mama.
Mio received a balloon animal in the shape of Elmo!
Such a treat! She was thrilled.
Mio also had a blast in the moonbounce! It was her first time in one!
She also found Big Bird and Cookie Monster!
Giving Big Bird a huge hug!
She kept photobombing other kids’ pictures.
“Ice cream!” 😀
It was a hot day, and she loved cooling off in the mist.
Mio had so much fun that afternoon that she conked out immediately once they got back in the car to go home. I’m glad she could have such a fun time with Daddy even while I was away! The picnic looked like so much fun and I hope that I can go with them next year! 🙂
