On Wednesday, December 16, Mio’s Pre-K class had their holiday concert! They sang three songs – Hoy es Navidad (the Spanish version of Jingle Bells), I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, and the American Authors song Best Day Of My Life. Their whole performance was adorable!
Afterwards, we got to enjoy refreshments with Mio at her classroom party.
As many of you know, we haven’t gone a year without building and decorating a gingerbread house (see exhibits here, here, here, and here, and we weren’t about to skip it this year. We found something a little different this time, though – a gingerbread turkey kit from Trader Joe’s! We thought it was a fun departure from the usual house, and it also gave us an excuse to exercise our decorating skills a little early, around Thanksgiving time instead of Christmas!
It doesn’t feel like fall without a visit to the pumpkin patch! We went to Pumpkin Village at Leesburg Animal Park for the first time this year, as it’s not too far of a drive from our new neighborhood. Turns out it was the perfect manageable size for us, as it had a lot of the rides and attractions that larger, more popular pumpkin patches like Cox Farms has, except everything was in closer proximity and there were less lines. There was also the playground and animal exhibits that are already there year-round at the Leesburg Animal Park, which added to the fun. The girls had such a great time!
Photos from our 4th of July weekend! We started it out by trying Duck Donuts for the first time (since they recently opened their Fairfax location), had a BBQ with my parents’ family friends, and ended with fireworks on Sunday night!
The girls dressed up for 4th of July!
Hubs and Mirei at Duck Donuts
Duck Donuts were delicious! My favorite were the maple bacon ones!
When we grill, we do it right… chicken satay, kalbi, and shrimp & vegetable skewers (…in addition to the typical burgers + hot dogs)
Kids making s’mores as Dan mans the grill
Mio loves her watermelon!

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there, especially to our own amazing “Dadoo”! We girls can certainly be a handful, but we’re so thankful that he’s always there for us with nothing but love and support. We love you!
Mio giving Dan the card she made him in daycare
It’s a shirt-shaped card with a necktie on it, so she put it against him like a real necktie!
