Mio has made some more friends in the neighborhood lately, and they are so cute together! The moms are Japanese and talk to their kids in Japanese, so it’s great for Mio to get more exposure to the language, too.
Such adorable friends.

She loves the felt easel + felt shapes. Thinking about making one at home.
These are from almost a month ago, but I thought I’d post them anyway because they are so cute…

Yesterday, we met up with our friend Jamie to have a picnic lunch at Lake Merced in San Francisco. The weather was a little brisk for summer, but we still had a great time eating and catching up together. Jamie always impresses us with her delicious cooking, and she brought us the most tasty tuna sandwiches ever (even one specially made for Mio!), and we brought some homemade Bakesale Betty-style coleslaw and cherries as sides. After lunch, we walked around the lake — it was Mio and I’s first time seeing Lake Merced!

Mio and Auntie Jamie are already best buds.

We were watching some of the ducks and ducklings in the water.
Mio’s gotten really good at going down the stairs. Love her little cute boots!
We had a lovely time at the lake with Jamie! Thanks for the delicious sandwiches, and for taking such good care of Mio! 😀
Our friends Hyangsun and Tony celebrated their baby girl’s 100th day last Sunday, and we got to be a part of the festivities! Baby April (SunMi) was born on April 1 this year, so she’s almost exactly a year younger than Mio. (Hyangsun and Tony had been expecting her to be born in May, and they actually came to Mio’s birthday party on March 31.. and then April was born the next day, a month before her due date!)Â The decorations were beautiful and all the food was delicious! Here are some pictures we took at the party…
Such pretty decorations!
100th Day ricecake… all the guests got to take a piece home at the end, and it was so delicious!
Brownie bites!
So much delicious food!
The lemon chicken was my favorite.

As usual, Mio got lots of attention from the ladies.

Lovely party favor boxes for everyone to take home.
It was a really delightful celebration! Thank you Hyangsun and Tony for inviting us to celebrate April’s arrival! We can’t wait to watch her grow. 🙂
A couple snapshots from Thursday, when Mio and I got to spend the day with Megumi, Daniel, and Jenn. Mio especially loved visiting Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation — she loved seeing all the kitties and dogs!
We took Mio to see the Alameda Independence Day Parade yesterday for a Fourth of July celebration. Alameda’s parade is apparently the largest (with 160+ floats) and longest (3.2 miles) Independence Day parade in the country! It was a hot day, but we parked ourselves under some shade and watched the parade go by — Mio had fun watching her first parade!
Mio and I moved to get a closer look at the parade.

There were lots of cool classic cars in the parade!
Baby you’re a firework! Mio in her Fourth-of-July dress.

Mio giggling with Auntie Tarrin! 🙂
After the parade, we walked back to our friends Tarrin and Jason’s house to enjoy a BBQ lunch — everything they cooked was amazing! Our tummies got to enjoy quite a feast!
Jason grilling some delicious burgers!
Mio following 4-year old Rishy around.
We also got to hang out on their hammock — it was so relaxing!

All of us had a great time spending the day in Alameda! After eating all the delicious food and being out in the summer sun, we all took a long nap when we got home that evening. Hope everyone else had a memorable Fourth, too! 🙂
