Last night, Dan and I went to the much-anticipated Muse concert in Oracle Arena in Oakland. Muse is one of Dan’s favorite bands, and so when I heard that they were coming back in December, I immediately picked up a pair of tickets as a birthday gift for Dan. I’d also grown to become a fan, from listening to Dan’s music library, so I was pretty psyched to see them live too.
The stadium was packed and Muse put on an awesome show that did not disappoint! They sang all of their much-loved classics, such as Uprising, Resistance, Supermassive Black Hole, Unnatural Selection, and my personal favorite, Starlight. Their set was incredible, too! They had these massive skyscraper-like structures onstage that opened up to reveal them inside each at the start of the show, and they kept being lowered and lifted and spun atop them while all sorts of motion graphics and effects played on the sides of them. It was visually stunning; I’d never seen anything like it before.
Here’s a video of Muse performing Starlight last night. Amazing!
It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to, and I came out even more a fan than I was before! Definitely looking forward to seeing them live again sometime. 🙂

I saw them in a smaller venue when Black Holes and Revelations came out and was super disappointed by the show because they had like zero stage presence, but from your pictures it looks like they put on a really great stadium show.

Yea, they had an incredible set! I wish I could have seen them in a smaller venue like when you went, though – we were pretty much as far as you could get from the stage… ::sigh::

Section 101, row 7 — not bad seats at all! Nothing like the guy in the video, though, you’re right. 🙂
To Jason’s comment — I could definitely understand them being a bit underwhelming in a small venue, as they don’t interact with the audience much. However, their set pieces are spectacular and they’re just so good technically. Combined with the sweeping revolutionary feel to many of their songs, they’re really able to rock a stadium.

Liz and I went to see Muse when they were in Baltimore! your pictures are SO much better than ours (we sat in the nose bleed section). Their performance was AWESOME!

We were in the nosebleed section too! I don’t think we could’ve been much farther from the stage.
But yes, their performance was pretty awesome! 😀 It was definitely worth it. There could have been a little more interaction with the audience though….
