Today was Mio’s 10-month doctor’s visit — it was a regular checkup, with no vaccinations. As usual, her pediatrician was very impressed with how healthy and physically advanced Mio was in her development. Here are her latest stats!
We were surprised to see that Mio weighed 20 lbs 10 oz, because it’s slightly less than how much she weighed when we took her into the doctor when she was sick a few weeks ago. She’s in the 64th growth percentile based on weight-for-age, continuing to be very healthy!
Mio measured 28.5 inches long, in the 59th growth percentile based on length-for-age.
Her head circumference was 17.99 inches (45.7 cm) around, which is in the 82nd growth percentile based on head circumference-for-age.
Another memorable thing that happened today was that Mio signed her first word — “milk”! We’ve been teaching her baby sign language with a few basic ASL words, as we had heard from other parents that it becomes an effective tool for pre-verbal infants to communicate with gestures when they are ready to communicate but unable to verbally speak words yet. We’d been introducing her to a few signing words for a couple months (such as “more,” “milk,” “Mama,” “Dada,” “yummy,” and “bath”), and today was the first day she signed a word to us! She has been signing it a lot today, and I managed to capture it on video this afternoon:
Some more fun photos from today… Mio is getting better at walking every day, and is now waddling everywhere!
