This past weekend, Dan and I made those fabulous s’mores cupcakes for some friends again, and although our cupcakes went quickly, we had half a bag of mini marshmallows left over. I was eating them out of the bag after dinner tonight, wishing that there was some way to get that delicious toasted flavor… and that’s when I stumbled upon this awesome idea:
Ghetto…? How about genius?!
Seriously, Dan and I both sat at our dining table repeatedly roasting and popping these for about ten minutes straight. All the while, I raved on and on about how brilliant I was for coming up with the idea.
And then I went online to see if it’d been done before and I found this: Redneck Marshmallow Roasting. 😮
Hmph… well, my method uses a creme brulée torch instead of a cigarette lighter so it gets points for French sophistication. Bon appetit!

hahaha i’ve done the same thing with my gas stove. and everytime i use a bunsen burner i always wish i had a few marshmallows around. the cigarette lighter is pretty ingenious though… you’d never think about using it for a culinary purpose. i like it!

Yea, Dan and I were talking about how we could probably do it on our gas stove too!
LOL, the bunsen burner… how much fun would it be to have s’mores in the lab! 🙂 I agree that the cigarette lighter is a creative and easy way to do it
