im sorry, im korean and i hate to bash on my own ppl but im fed up with what poor sports they can be. im ashamed of all these nasty comments that are making the press =( its making us look so bad!!

I don’t know what to say about the Koreans… I suspect part of it has to do with Apolo being part Japanese, and I’ve historically found that some Koreans have a tendency to turn anything Japanese-related into a negative thing. This is the Olympics, not politics, and Apolo is so much more American than he is Japanese. The Koreans skated amazingly and I really commend them on their medals. But like you, I don’t see why they are bitter about Ohno when they beat him to the gold.

Congratulations to Apolo Ohno for becoming the most decorated Winter Olympian in American history!

Did you hear how the Korean medalist who won gold said Ohno didn’t deserve to stand on the same medal platform as him? Koreans are great speedskaters as we’ve seen this time but they just suck at being good sports. I mean c’mon, you won! Where’s the need to put down other people?

Hmmm… that’s unfortunate to hear. I saw in an interview with Asada Mao that she thinks of Kim Yuna is a good rival that helps to motivate her to continue to become a better skate. And it seems like from this clip that they are sort of friends. They may not be the best of friends necessarily, but it seems like Maoちゃん doesn’t harbor any ill feelings towards Yuna… rivalry doesn’t have to be negative. But that was a couple years ago, so things may have changed.

I think they are both amazing skaters, so I hope that they get along despite what the rumors say. The last thing we need is another thing that will sour relations between Japan and Korea. (God knows we’ve seen enough of those… )

i think kim yuna is a talented skater too but i heard she’s disliked by many of the other skaters (esp japanese) because she openly accused them of sabotaging her practices. 嫌われまくりだって話だよ〜〜

i heard she also wrote in her blog in 2005 when they competed together that she “hoped that mao asada would fall down, but couldn’t believe she won instead” =(
doesnt sound like very good sportsmanship to me……
